Management of Unwitnessed Falls
This session explores one of the most challenging issues facing social care staff. Delgates will examine some falls prevention strategies before turning attendion to the specific responses to a fall that is unwitnessed. The course will explain core problems with mobilising the patient and walks through application of the ABCDE approach to assessing the casualty and obtaining medical assistance. Delegates will discuss key decision making principles to consider before deciding whether to move a patient who has fallen and the associated accountability with such decisions. Practical hoisting from the floor will be demonstrated and practiced by delegates.
