Mental Capacity, Restraint & Restrictive Practice & DoLS
This course outlines the current legal requirements as set out in the MCA 2016 and accompanying regulations 2019. Delegates will discuss how this law is applied in practice and the session provides practical advice on DoLs and the protocols that must be followed. The course looks more broadly at restraint and restrictive practice, examining subtle examples of poor practice and methods to avoid restraint & restrictive practices. The course examines the legal justification for the use of restraint under specific individual circumstances and the necessary safegaurds that must be met to lawfully restrict or restrain someone.
